A game controller and a star, for choosing what to pre-order

Pre-ordering can unlock bonuses, but it also means paying before you know how good the game is. Use this checklist.

1. Is there real early access?

Some editions let you play days early. For example, Fable's Premium Edition offers early access from Feb 18, 2027. If you do not care about those days, you can wait.

2. Is it on a subscription?

Several 2027 games are listed for day-one Game Pass. If you already subscribe, you may play without buying.

3. Could it slip?

Delays are common. CD Projekt Red, for example, has said The Witcher 4 is not coming in 2027 and is targeting 2028. Do not plan your year around a date that is not locked.

4. Wait for reviews and PC specs

Reviews arrive just before launch, and PC performance details can decide a purchase. Waiting a few days costs nothing.

5. Know the refund rules

Check the store's refund policy. Rules differ by platform.

Our rule of thumb

Pre-order only if the bonus matters to you and you trust the studio. Otherwise, wait for launch-week reviews.
